HR 2454 (Waxman-Markley) American Clean Energy and Security Act

Fresno Chamber Position: OPPOSE

HR 2454 is a federal proposal that will put a cap on the amount of carbon dioxide that businesses can emit, in order to reduce global warming.
Businesses will be forced to purchase "emissions permits" regulating how much carbon they can emit.

This legislation, which is referred to as Cap and Trade, will drive up the cost of doing business, leading to more workplace reductions and higher prices for consumers.
