Fresno Chamber Position: OPPOSE
AB 2727 imposes a number of confusing and subjective new
standards and criteria that employers must meet and consider
when making employment decisions on the basis of an applicant’s
prior criminal convictions. This bill also unreasonably expands
employer liability by creating a new private right of action and
criminal penalties for violating these new requirements. Current
law already provides significant protections to applicants with
criminal conviction records.
