SB 967
(Correa) Bidding Preference
Fresno Chamber Position: OPPOSE
Gives a preference
to bidders on state contracts who commit that 90 percent of the
work will be performed by California employees. The Chamber
opposes this proposal because protectionism practices limit
choice and drive up prices for consumers and for the state.
Furthermore, protectionist legislation causes a net loss of jobs
in related industries, retaliation by our trading partners, and
violates provisions of the World Trade Organization, as well as,
bilateral free trade agreements.
