Shaun is president of
Chamber Advocacy, a professional consulting firm that builds and maintains
results-oriented government affairs programs for chambers of commerce.
Shaun secures involvement among
business organization's members to develop and advocate their legislative priorities; serves
as a resource on issues impacting his client's business communities, and
implements effective communication strategies.
As President of Chamber
Advocacy, Shaun
works with
eleven
chambers of commerce
throughout California building and maintaining their government affairs programs.
Since founding Chamber Advocacy, Shaun has worked with chambers of
commerce to sponsor state legislation, take action on over 1,200
issues, actively endorsed over twenty pro-jobs candidates for
elected office, and maintains an
advocacy Web site for each client -
a concept he developed five years ago. In 2003, the
California Chamber of Commerce began recognizing the best chamber of commerce government affairs program in the
state. A Chamber Advocacy client has won the top award every year since.
In 2004, Shaun was honored by
the
Western Association of Chamber Executives
(W.A.C.E) as the recipient of the
association's prestigious Gerald Hathaway Staff Member of the Year Award.
Shaun also consults for the
American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) as their preferred
national provider of government relations and advocacy related services.
Shaun is also a regular contributor to the ACCE Policy Clearinghouse Blog.
His entries cover the fundamentals of chamber of commerce advocacy efforts
and are a terrific asset for anyone who is starting up or ramping up a
government affairs program.
Prior to founding Chamber Advocacy, Shaun
served as Vice President for Government Affairs for the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce
where he built their award-winning and nationally-acclaimed government
affairs program.


Personal


Shaun's purpose is to be a dedicated leader who serves his community through
advocacy and the development of relationships. His philosophy is simple: to
know his purpose, build and maintain relationships, be authentic, set goals,
have clear visions, be result-driven, and be disciplined.
In
2007,
Long Beach Magazine honored Shaun as one of the
Most Innovative Minds In Long Beach, California.
Shaun serves his community
as the Co-Founder of
Long Beach Post, Inc. an independent media organization that
provides commentary and original news
via
LBPOST.com
and sports coverage via
LBPOSTsports.com
on local, statewide, national and international issues impacting
Long Beach.
Shaun also advises elected
officials such as
Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and
Long Beach City Auditor Laura Doud by
building and maintaining their Web-based constituent communication. In 2008,
the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) honored City Auditor
Laura Doud's Web site the Silver Web Site Award. Shaun
also produced Supervisor Knabe's
2008 reelection Web site.
Shaun earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from
California State
University, Sacramento.
In 1999, Shaun received the California State Student Association (CSSA)
Chair's Award for Excellence in Student Advocacy and, in 2008, the CSSA's
Alumnus of the Year Award.
Shaun is also an active and proud alumnus of the
Theta Xi Chapter of the Sigma
Chi International Fraternity. Shaun is a baseball umpire who
served his 14th
season in 2005. He has umpired all levels of baseball up to the NCAA PAC-10.
Shaun, and his fiancé Deziré, are proud
residents of Belmont Shore in Long Beach, California.
